Mode of Action of Killing of Microorganisms with Vasaka Leaf Extract
ثبت نشده
چکیده
In studying the antimicrobial activity of Vasaka, it has been found that Vasaka leaf extract is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent and microbiostatic. When plates inoculated with microorganisms were grown in presence of Vasaka, no zone of inhibition was obtained. The organisms have grown resistance against Vasaka. The ethanolic extract of Vasaka have no direct effect on microbes like S. mutans, Pseudomonas sp., Candida albicans and Aspergillus sp., but should trigger a signal, which would induce some cellular responses. Lastly, performing activity gel of SOD from cell extracts of microorganisms grown in presence of Vasaka extract indicated increased SOD activity. This gave the idea of the mechanism of killing of microbes.

Justicia adhatoda (Vasaka) Leaf Extracts as Eco-friendly Corrosion Inhibitor for Mild Steel in Potable Water
The corrosion inhibition efficiency of the vasaka leaf extract for protecting mild steel in potable water (neutral aqueous medium) was studied by weight loss, Open circuit potential monitoring and potentiometric polarization methods. The inhibition test was performed in potable water rather than deionized water because inhibitors are normally applied in neutral and industrial waters. The extrac...
متن کاملEffects of Methanolic Extract of Ficus carica Leaves on Cystic Echinococcosis
ABSTRACT Background and objective: Surgery is the gold standard treatment for hydatidosis. Scolicidal agents could be used during surgery to kill protoscoleces and prevent cyst recurrence after rupturing of main lesion. Non-chemical agents with sufficient protoscolex-killing activity are known to be fully effective in this regard with fewe...
متن کاملHepatoprotective Effect of Ficus carica Leaf Extract on Mice Intoxicated with Carbon Tetrachloride
Protective action of Ficus carica leaf ethanolic extract (obtained by maceration) was evaluated in an animal model of hepatotoxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). Male albino mice were divided into six groups. group I was normal control group; group II received olive oil (CCl4 solvent), groups III-VI received CCl4. After inducing hepatic damage, group III served as control for CCl4; a...

متن کاملEffects of Cryptolepine, 2, 7, dibromocryptolepine and standard drugs on hemoglobin accumulation in cultured Malaria parasites
Cryptolepine is the major alkaloidal constituent of the West African climbing shrub Cryptolepis sanguinolenta, a species used in traditional medicine for the treatment of malaria and a number of other infectious diseases. Cryptolepine and a number of its synthetic analogues have been shown to have potent antiplasmodial activities using P. falciparum lactate dehydrogenase assay (PfLDH). Intraery...
